Comment by Jon collins on July 11, 2011 at 11:32am A general group for people to post encouraging stories about success in the business.
Or even just to mention things that are going well for the cause of Christians in the game development business, be they artists, coders, designers, ceos, outsourcers whatever...
For example Soma's great success with bok choy boy 300,000 as of the conference and going strong.
or
GameSambas success with the launch of their 3 online games, Remnant Knights, Tribal Trouble 2 & Realms Online
Comment by Chris Skaggs on July 12, 2011 at 9:50am Thanks for the shout out Jon. :) And in the "tradition" of lifting up others instead of ourselves...
Crawlspace Games has a genuine hit with "Float" on iOS.
I don't know the actual download numbers but as an unofficial rule of thumb of 1 rating for every 500 downloads - 624 ratings is looking pretty darn solid.
Way to go Paper Tower / Crawlspace!
Comment by Chris Skaggs on November 1, 2011 at 11:34am Have a great new success story to shout about. You probably heard about 'Journey of Moses' the first Bible-based Facebook game that came out in August. Well Hexify recently announced that the game grabbed over 1 MILLION users in just 8 weeks!
I alos had the chance to do a quick interview with Brent Dusing of Hexify and I'll be sharing that with the board in an email, but if you like, you can also see the interview on our blog: http://www.somagames.com/somaniloquy/2011/11/01/god-games-never-sel...

Comment by Philip Conrod on April 11, 2013 at 10:21pm Our Kidware & BibleBytes’ Software titles have definitely not been as successful as the nice folks at Wisdom Tree or Hexify but we do have a unique and interesting story to tell. Our first Computer Bible Games titles sold over 5,000 copies between 1982 and 1984 on the TRS-80, TI-99 and Sinclair computer platforms. Our Computer Bible Games for Applesoft, Commodore, and Microsoft MBasic sold another 5,000 copies between 1984 and 1986. We then changed to a shareware distribution model and we really have no idea how many Computer Bible Games and our two dozen “Family Friendly” Learning Games were distributed on the IBM PC Compatible platform between 1986 and 1995 on Bulletin Board Systems (BBS). Luckily, web sites like www.download.com have been tracking our download numbers on their website since 2006. Our "Kid's Typing Skills" application has been downloaded over 82,000 times from their shareware website since 2006. Our "Toddler Fun" has been downloaded over 26,000 times. Our most popular title to date is actually a Microsoft Windows Self-Study Computer Programming Tutorial (CBT) for beginners called "Learn Visual Basic 6" which has been downloaded over 450,000 times from www.download.com alone. Learn VB teaches self-study students how to write their very own computer games and applications. It is still quite popular and was downloaded over 200 times just this past week. We also distribute our newest software titles on our own websites but they definitely don’t have the same download numbers we see on websites like amazon.com and download.com. What is the secret to Kidware & BibleByte's long term longevity and moderate success? Grow slowly, be realistic, team up with really smart people (like Lou Tylee), involve your own kids in your business, and never get into debt to fund your little software business. Most importantly, make sure you give all the credit to God since He alone grants you wisdom and creativity. He also provides you plenty of opportunities to fail so that you really come to understand what it really means to totally depend on Him.
Comment by Tim Emmerich on April 12, 2013 at 12:25am Thanks for sharing Philip! May God bless you!
Be HIS salt and light!
Comment by Lydia on April 22, 2013 at 1:55pm I love it! What Tim said. :) Have you thought about turning any of your titles or the Learn VB into apps? There are people on here that could help you do that. Not sure how much it would cost, but its worth looking into. Yes, God bless you. :)
