The purpose of this group is to discuss and develop ways to help to adapt the gameplay in already heavily played games. Also, it is intended to work the basis for a further evangelization process.

This group does not have any discussions yet.
I have the intention to start something at World of Warcraft.
Someone up to help me with?
I'd thank a lot!
Comment by Anthony Joseph Schwartz on June 3, 2011 at 2:00am Hi ^^ I saw your new group and was interested in what you would like to adapt? Mhhh WoW, so a mmorpg, but the problem is that mmorpgs have multiple classes and as in Wow you can play evil as well as good! And well adapting something that is already so big and famous... would only make a huge shadow and you then produced something that no one will play! Ofcourse you could make it unique and interesting... but you would still be behind Blizzard, a satanic video game company! Hehe sorry saying this but even adapting an idea of a game that uses Magic, Deamons, Posessing and Summoning isnt a good start for a christian game!
Creating something new, is the only way to get it to people that dont want same old same old of lame copying video games! Adapting video game ideas or ways to play isnt bad! But as you can see is that the: Left Behind, video game series totaly sucks since it was adapting, Age of Empires 2 (Microsoft) and Warcraft (Blizzard, AGAIN!) Adapting a game is not such a good idea, but adapting something that is not so good.... fails ^^
What I meant was to think some sort of approach, some Gospel (in the arcaic Meaning of the word: God Spell) into the players daily life.
The intention is far from creating a game, is actually supporting the game players. Once my fiancée told me that games were evil.
But Bible itself says:
New International Version (NIV)
17 “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18 But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”
Its not the game, but what you do in the game that is bad. Those are not my words.
A Mmorpg tends to reproduce the society, and so, there's charity and hatred, all in the same place, just like in the Earth.
My proposal is to prepare those peoples to act with God in their mind. We must do everything in the name of God, for it to turn pure, but also, we have to respect his laws.
The question is: How to do that in a MMORPG or other game of any kind?
Comment by Anthony Joseph Schwartz on June 3, 2011 at 3:05pm Ohhh ok I get what you mean... dont do it! Trust me if you do that in a game like Wow you wont get far... I played WoW and you dont want to get messenges of people saying what you are doing at the moment is wrong and that I should come to christ... It would have made me block you and take a step back from the christian faith!
Well maby.... just MABY you could get someone.. but trust me the people playing this KNOW that what they are playing isnt good! (Well people will say, I didnt know... then these people dont listen to their soul, their right and wrong gut feeling!) They dont want some random people preaching and telling them things they aready know...
This is a good idea! But sorry to tell you this... you wont get far
And you said that the game itself isnt bad... ok that is correct, but everything on WoW is bad... seriously, the whole game is bad! Well you could try it...
Oh and tell your fiancee that she is some what correct, but not every video game is evil!
And your idea is really not bad ^^
but isnt it hypicritcal writing that the game is bad... and you then playing it? This would make the most people block you!
Some ideas that could maby work... ^^
You could:
1. Make a website looking for people with mmorpg accounts that would be willing to walk around in the game world
2. Write some messenges in the open chat
3. Make a meeting point in the game for street preaching
(like on saturdays from 16:00 to 24:00) this since alot of people playing work, sunday morning isnt so great since people sleep in, and sunday night because people work the next day
The only problem is when you ask people to preach in a game like this is... that you could be the cause that the person get farther away from God, since the game has a great influence on people... this wouldnt be a project for people with little faith in God!
Thank you for your advises. May God bless you.
Still, I'll try to do something.

Comment by Lydia on June 4, 2011 at 2:53pm Hi there,
I am confused by Anthony's thoughts on this subject. Maybe suprised is a better word. My impression from one of the conversations he started on his blog made me think he would've been all over this idea. I do understand and have heard his type of position before, but that would actually end up being an arguement against being a missionary. :S My impression is that you want to be a missionary on WOW. Is that what you are saying? With people living more and more life online, it has become yet another place to spread the Gospel. I'm all for people shining their light everywhere rather than hiding in the corner while cursing the darkness. I feel into that trap regarding Halloween. Satan even lies to us about that. He encourages us to huddle together where its safe and familiar. Remember the tower of Babel? Remember Christ's commandment to go into all the world and preach the Gospel? He even went and ate with prostitutes and tax collectors. God wants us out in the world. The "trick" (I wish I could think of a better word) is to get prayed up all the time, read the Bible every day, and have a good Christian support system (including CGDC's online community <grin>), so that in this undertaking one is the influencer rather than the one being influenced. I will have to check with one of my friends, but I may have a lead for you, Tiago. Please tell me more specifically what you would do in W.O.W.
Comment by Anthony Joseph Schwartz on June 4, 2011 at 3:36pm Oh haha sorry ^^ it is just it is very dangerous to wander in satans lap like that... seriously I played this game! I was a christian before that time and well the reason I started was because I wanted to learn more of different games ^^ so that I could find a good and maby a better way to bring a christian game to everyone ^^ but I loved the gameplay so much and even though I started out strong praying on the way, asking for God to let me understand why the game is so addicting... and well I lost touch with God because I could play like a god in this game! It is dangerous to wander in a place were satan and his demons are very influencial (sorry spelling xD) anyway, being a missionary in a place like this is like walking into the satanic church and start preaching... haha you wouldnt get far since they belive they are godhood, that everyone is a god! So yes go ahead... but if you get people involved who arent as well build in faith as you.. then you could be the cause that someone loses faith!
Really it isnt a bad idea ( I really never tought of it before!) and well my thing is... be carefull! Playing with the devil when you dont have a good relationship with God is fatal! Dont underestimate Satan!
Oh and Lydia (how do yo highlight the names xD) what you said with Christ eating with prostitutes and tax collectors, he didnt preach to them! He just acceptet them as everyone else... that is what the bible verse means, that jesus is for everyone!
Now! If you would make an account and play the game like a normal user... and then start making friends in WoW, you could then tell them about your faith... but seriously I had someone talking about christ in WoW and well I thought he was a hypocrit!
I dont know what I should say here ^^ Im sorry, this isnt my area to talk in xD
If God tells you to do so! Then do it! Since it says in the bible that God will only let satan as close as you can handle!
